Ashley Madekwe and Ashley Leggat
Madekwe comes from a multi-cultural family. She was born in South London. The father of her is Nigerian as well as Swiss and her mother is English. Her family was on the south London Council Estate. She attended The Brit School aged 14. She pursued acting studies in The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, London. She was on stage in several productions as a student like the role of King Henry V, as Princess Katherine as well as Wuthering Heights, as Catherine Earnshaw.
Madekwe started her acting career through the film Storm Damage. In the years since, she's made guest appearances on Teachers, Doctors, Casualty and Drop Dead Gorgeous. Madekwe's debut film role was Woody Allen's Cassandra's Dream (2007), with Colin Farrell. The following year she portrayed Elisha (a BBC Three drama-pilot) in West 10 LDN. Additionally, she starred in Trexx as Ollie and six episodes in Flipside. In 2008, Madekwe landed Bambi who was the leading character in the ITV2 comedy Secret Diary of a Call Girl. Madekwe also starred as the main character on How to lose friends & alienate people, which was released by Sony Pictures Entertainment in 2008. She also appeared on the screen in Little Sweet Thing, by Roy Williams, and Flight Path written by David Watson.
Madekwe officially made her US debut on The Beautiful Life in 2009. The show aired just two episodes on The CW, and was later ended. Ashley Davenport, a character in ABC's Revenge drama, was chosen to play Ashley Davenport. Madekwe's exit from the series was announced in May 2013. After a period of two years as a main character, she was a guest in the first episode of season three. On the show Salem, she played Tituba from 2014 until 2016. Madekwe, her long-time companion, Iddo, married Madekwe in June 2012. Alongside Secret Diary of a Call Girl They have also collaborated together on Salem and he had a part alongside her in that TV show.
Ashley Leggat grew up in Hamilton Ontario with an extended family. Her parents were Roy and Patty as well as her four brothers, Rob, Brett, and twins Todd and Bram. Ashley's brothers were athletic and played baseball in summer and hockey in the winter. Ashley was never able to actually walk. She danced. When she reached two and a half and a half, she joined Baby Ballet. Ashley began to be a dancer after this. Ashley was a top competitor in divisions of tap, jazz ballet, hip hop, Acrobatics, Lyrical Musical Theatre as well as pointe until the time she completed from high school. Additionally, she was awarded the top awards for soloists in every major dance contests, like the International Dance Challenge, Showstoppers, 56-7-8 Showtime, Flash Dance, Dance, Dance, Dance among others.
