In the beginning, after being influenced through the shadows she saw in the grasses of trees She worked over a period of months in developing a process that did not depict an object as a two-dimensional picture. The subject instead transforms into a representation of the subject and the canvas transforms into the medium for it's personal interpretation by painting, particularly when the subjects are living or perishable items for example, like humans or fruits. Alexa's style of painting has an ephemeral quality, and all left of Alexa Meade is her photograph. Trompe l'oeil is achieved by combining the two techniques of painting and photographing. It creates a flattened, two dimensional photograph. Meade frequently blends her painted characters in the 3D world surrounding her. They are able to interact with this self-created universe. In this way, she blurs the lines between painting, photography, performances and installations.
